Madness, but that's what happens in a democracy, the most votes win.

I never fail to find a gem in your writing. This time it was "His campaign has proposed the idea of municipal grocery stores because, apparently, what New York really needs is the DMV experience applied to produce."

It would be funny if it weren't so sad.

I imagine that when someone promises things for free, a substantial number of people will fall for it.

I'm skeptical of the wisdom of the average American. What a difference between now and Ben Franklin's time.

Not that it has a snowflake's chance in hell of ever being law, but for some years I've wished the vote reserved for only:

1) Those who pay federal income tax.

2) Active duty military, police and fire departments.

3) Anyone awarded a Purple Heart or other valor-based medals.

I used to include any high school (or higher) graduate, but in recent years, as schools have embraced DEI/CRT, we can't be assured of logical thinking there either.

While some are working to keep Andrew Cuomo off the ballot and encourage perennial GOP loser Curtis Sliwa to withdraw, allowing Eric Adams to face him in a one-on-one, I think we should give New York over to Mamdani and his ilk. I will hate to see New York descend into a dystopian hellhole, but they deserve what they voted for, good and hard, and we all need to see the consequences of their policies.

Indeed. Somehow, NYC voters have found a candidate who makes Eric Adams look better by comparison, something I thought was impossible.
