The Last Citizen
What happens when rights outpace responsibilities, and the very meaning of belonging is abandoned?
If you think ICE raids have become such a routine feature of American life that the Left has grown tired of staging its outrage, think again. The large protests and riots that led Trump to send troops to Los Angeles in June may have died down by summer’s end, but this is just the calm before the storm.
With 10,000 more ICE agents coming online this year and next, agents will ramp up operations in sanctuary cities from Los Angeles to Boston. The stage is set for more intense clashes as the mid-term elections approach. If Republicans are wise, the main battlefield will not just be about immigration policy, but also the very meaning of citizenship.
When Citizenship Becomes Optional
There was a time when being an American citizen was like holding the golden ticket. It meant you were part of something larger than yourself, a republic united by shared history, culture, and duty. You didn’t just receive rights; you earned them by shouldering civic responsibilities. Citizenship involved being informed, voting, volunteering, believing in shared responsibility for the community's well-being, helping neighbors, respecting civic institutions, supporting the police, and honoring those in our armed services.
How is it that the idea of citizenship in America ended up on life support in the ICU? And who has been yanking at the plug? It started at the top with Biden, a president who believed that his nation’s borders were nothing more than an imaginary line drawn by Republicans with crayons.
He set the tone early in his presidency: “Our diversity is our strength. That’s why we should make all undocumented immigrants U.S. citizens, period.” No oath, no pledge, no knowledge of our institutions required. About ten million showed up, received their star-spangled participation trophy, and trampled over our Constitution on their way in.
Nancy Pelosi offered her Hallmark-card version of citizenship during the invasion: “The newcomers, whether documented or not, make America more American.” If newcomers make America ‘more American,’ then the rest of us must be impostors.
Kamala Harris, who took the oath of office as Vice President, swearing “to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic,” dismissed our immigration laws entirely: “An undocumented immigrant is not a criminal.” To Harris, squatting in America was no longer breaking the law. It was just “alternative home shopping.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, of course, dismissed the entire concept of nationhood: “No one can be illegal on stolen land.” In that case, citizenship is just colonial cosplay.
California Governor Gavin Newsom, now running for President, piled on: “Every person—no matter your immigration status—needs to know: you have rights.” In Newsom’s California, the air you breathe comes with a complimentary Bill of Rights. Allegiance, loyalty, civic knowledge? Optional extras. It’s the perfect California export.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass reiterated the theme: “Because we are a city of immigrants… sectors of our economy are dependent on immigrant labor.” Not citizens, mind you. Just immigrants. Translation: citizenship is outdated; what counts is man-hours.
And Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, another star of the Democrat Party, made it clear: “I am going to do everything that I can to protect our undocumented immigrants. They are residents of our state.” Residents = citizens. In Pritzker’s Illinois, “law-abiding undocumented” is a category just shy of sainthood.
Compassion or Demolition?
Each of these so-called public servants diminishes the meaning of citizenship, reducing it to mere residency on American soil. Progressives cloak this as compassion. But what is it really? Destruction. Rights are given out like swag bags; responsibilities are treated like an outdated dress code.
The Roman Empire tried this, too. The start of Rome's decline was marked by its practice of handing out citizenship like party favors, filling its legions with mercenaries from distant lands, and declaring the entire empire a single sanctuary city. When the walls shook, nobody showed up to defend them. That’s how the story, and a civilization, came to an end.
The Coming Clashes
As ICE expands and starts targeting sanctuary cities more aggressively to defend the idea of citizenship, the contradictions will sharpen. Progressives who chant that “everyone’s an American” will have to face the fact that laws still exist, and that law enforcement plans to enforce them. The protests and riots won’t go away. They’ll grow in number. Because what the Left is really opposing isn’t immigration enforcement. It’s the very idea that citizenship involves boundaries, standards, and sacrifice.
Citizenship isn’t dead just yet. But protecting it requires more than protest signs and hashtags. It needs real citizens ready to stand up, shoulder duty, and remind the Left that America is a republic, not a free Airbnb.

How perfect a term, "star-spangled participation trophy"! That is quite the quotable quote.
Just yesterday my little voice started screaming at me that the Left was showing their card imposing their updated term for "undocumented immigrant" with their new parroting term "citizen" when the ever abhorrent Rosie O'Donnell referred to them as "citizens" during her full throttle TDS rant. It was almost obvious that she had just come out of her conference call with the Greater Soros Network (GSN) where all Democrat & RINO comrades were given their orders for talking points.
How convenient that these "citizens" are only counted in Newsom's, Pritzker's, Healey's, and fellow blue states purely on the basis of a geographically small but highly populated urban environment that are magnets to illegal aliens. Open doors they adamantly stamp with their liberal "Free Everything" and "No Returns". Perfect for padding the census for congressional districting with millions of non-American unidentifiable individuals, and in turn, no-voter-ID voting "citizens". The democrat's devil-may-care attitude for sanctuary environments concentrates ideal relocation points for criminals and terrorist cells who will also get labeled citizen. We all now know these far left sanctuary states and cities are in concert with Monopoly's Community Chest supporting cast of Deep State funded activist AGs, Judges, Democrat Legislators, and Liberal Rags stacking the deck with unlimited 'GET OUT OF JAIL, FREE' cards. It is sinister and begs so many questions regarding who are our enemies? For example, How did Ilhan Omar make $30 million? Hmmm, I wonder what the line item amount is for each illegal alien, oops I mean democrat voting citizen. And hey, where's the cry for the IRS and tax returns for these now high net worth government employees in The Squad or like bartending AOC... but I digress.
Citizens? Hopefully Trump's cabinet and administration are steadfastly supported by all the GOP legislators (maybe even a handful of democrats with a conscience who have an inkling of a patriotic soul remaining) along with real patriotic citizens like us light the fuse with this match we've already lit. Time for the explosion, implosion, and burning down the House of Cards built by an evil network of individuals over the past 65 years. God bless Team Trump/Vance and their entire administration of loyalists and all their family, friends, and allies!!!
Let's send all these illegal non-citizen immigrant alien law breaking criminals packin' with plenty of room left in their bag for their memento...
Star-Spangled Participation Trophy. Yes sir, US citizenship shouldn't be optional and it's time to take a wrecking ball to demolish liberals low standards. Let the clash begin.
LIGHT THE FUSE!

Someone should ask AOC how anyone can get paid for holding elected office to rule over stolen land. Doesn’t her ideology negate her authority?
